Want to give your home and garden a seasonal refresh? We’re here to help with an update on the latest trends for 2024. Read on to discover how to embrace the latest spring and summer interior design trends 2024 in your home, including top tips from Helen Joseph, from our in-house interiors team.

“Now is the perfect time to look ahead to summer and begin to inject some joy into your interiors with the newest decorating trends,” Helen said. “As the seasons change so does our mindset and the way we live in our homes and gardens as we look to connect once again with the outdoors.”

Playful Pastels

If you’re looking to give your home a refresh for spring and are wondering about interior colour trends, Helen recommends leaning towards mood boosting and playful colour palettes.

“Think pale blues, cool matcha green and soft pastel pinks,” Helen said. “Dulux’s colour of the year Sweet Embrace is the perfect neutral tone for promoting feelings of positivity, with a hint of pink. The soft enveloping colour is a perfect base for colour drenching, which is one of the key home trends for 2024. The technique involves literally drenching colour from top to bottom including skirting boards, walls, and ceilings and even furniture and accessories if you’re feeling daring. What could be more refreshing and joyful?”

You can also revamp your space by making seasonal changes to key pieces indoors and outdoors for a big impact.

“If you’re looking to replace furniture, pale pastel colours, as seen in our Oxford show home, also known as the Brownlow show home; at Roundhill Gardens in Congleton, can bring a contemporary and lighter feel to heavier pieces such as shelving and sofas, both inside your home or in your garden,” Helen suggested. “Or if you’re making smaller changes, pastels can also be introduced through throws, scatter cushions and accessories and add a pop of colour to a neutral backdrop.”

Comforting Greens

The biophilic trend is evolving for spring/summer home trends for 2024.

“Nourishing hues of soft sage greens and tranquil teals bring an organic element to interiors and enhance reconnections with nature,” Helen said. “We’ve used comforting greens in the open plan kitchen and dining room of the Warren show home at Roundhill Gardens and in the Windsor show home at Temple Woods in Rochester. These tones also works particularly well in bedrooms and bathrooms giving a sanctuary like and holistic feel. At Redrow we love pairing Dulux Heritage Waxed Khaki, a distinctive smokey deep green/grey paint, with white marble veined tiles for a sense of ultimate luxury.”

Earthy browns

Embrace dark and earthy brown tones such as ground coffee and burnt umber to create an elevated sense of warmth and luxury while following the latest interior colour trends, like in the lounge of the Henley show home at Oakleigh Fields in Rochester.

“These trans-seasonal shades look stunning no matter the time of year and lend themselves to smaller spaces for a cocooning effect,” Helen said. “Pair with woven or fringed textiles, as seen in one of the bedrooms in our Ledsham show home at Ash Gardens in Waterlooville, and metals in hammered and imperfect finishes such as brushed and burnt oxide surfaces for a sense of understated glamour. Layer dark earthy tones with elements of transparency such as glassware and lighting. Smoked and tinted glass will help lift the look and can transform simple shapes into statement pieces.”

Coastal Vibes

“There’s nothing more cathartic than spending a lazy Sunday afternoon refreshing your home with seasonal foliage. Spring is the perfect time to awake the senses through textural and mood boosting floral scents,” Helen added.

Vases and pots with coastal themes are set to be one of the key trends for 2024, in playful and expressive forms. Coastal scenes and motifs such as lobsters and clam shells are set to be popular this summer both inside and out. We’ve incorporated this trend in the lounge of the Sunningdale show home at Bishop Meadows in Oldham.

You can adapt the look in your own home by adorning vases with natural, whimsical foliage and seasonal blooms to make those ever-important emotive connections with nature. Outside opt for plants with silvery grey foliage – like cotton lavender or sea holly – to enhance those coastal vibes. Most importantly select items which bring a sense of joy to you.

Expressive Retro

Retro and nostalgic occasional chairs are set to be a big trend for 2024. “Opt for bold and expressive patterns and curved seats without arm rests for a truly upbeat retro feel.” Helen suggested.

Take it a step further and apply this to your outdoor spaces by layering garden furniture with weather-proof rugs and cushions in bold and expressive retro prints, helping create an outdoor living space you can relax in day or night during the warmer months.
