After previously living in Liverpool and Lincolnshire, and with their children having flown the nest, Alan and Patricia were delighted to finally find the property that was just right for them at our very own Newton Garden Village development in Nottingham.
Born in Liverpool, the couple bought their first home in the city – a 1930s property – where they lived for seven years. Their second step on the property ladder came as their family grew with the addition of two sons, which saw them purchase a six-bedroom, grade two listed home in Lincolnshire, built in 1760.
Although they loved their period property, with its traditional charm and quirky features, after their son’s flew the nest and the couple retired, they were keen to find a house that better suited their needs.
Alan said: “We had always loved our home for its rich heritage and traditional feel, but as a listed building it was both challenging and costly to maintain as we grew older – from the extensive garden to the property itself. We also found that it was simply too big – we no longer needed the vast amount of space.”
Keen to move closer to their son and grandchildren in Nottingham, the couple began the search for a newbuild property that offered the ease of maintenance they desired.
Patricia added: “We looked at lots of different developments locally, and then we came across Redrow. The location and layout of the development is brilliant, and we loved that the homes, although new, still offered the 1930s charm and character we saw in our very first home, but with the convenience and cost-saving efficiencies of a modern build."
“The quality of the build was superior to anything else we had looked at, and we found Redrow’s unique lifestyle properties really appealing – it was something we hadn’t seen before.”
Alan and Patricia set their sights on the Leamington Lifestyle – a three-bedroom home that appeared traditional on the outside but is unexpectedly contemporary inside. An open-plan kitchen and family space spans the back of the property, with a quieter formal lounge at the front. Upstairs, there are three bedrooms, all complete with their own ensuite.
Alan commented: “Having lived in a period property that was difficult, and expensive to heat, moving to a newbuild has been a breath of fresh air. It’s been a smooth process from start to finish, and moving into somewhere that needed no maintenance work allowed us to get settled quickly.”
Ryan O’Sullivan, Sales Director at Redrow East Midlands, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Alan and Patricia to Newton Garden Village and pleased to see they have found everything they were looking for in the Leamington Lifestyle."
“We understand that people want a home that offers the character and charm of an older property, but that is also energy-efficient and will save them money. Newton Garden Village offers just that, with the added benefits of being a development designed to promote a community atmosphere and access to green open spaces.
“We’d invite anyone who likes the idea of this to find out more about our extremely popular development before it’s too late!”
Located just a stone’s throw from the popular market town of Bingham, with great transport links to Nottingham and nearby Leicester, the development offers the perfect mix of rural and town living. The development is perfect for first-time buyers, growing families and couples alike.
