Our Midlands division, which is currently building new homes at Abbey Fields, on Castle Farm Way, Priorslee, has donated £250 to help NotJUST a Foodbank pay its energy bills so volunteers can continue to support local families struggling to afford food this winter.
As part of our commitment to create thriving communities, Redrow Midlands has launched a number of initiatives to support local people living in and around its developments. This includes an annual community fund, where groups can apply for funding for their projects, along with regular donations to local charities.
NotJUSt a Foodbank, which runs three foodbanks and community stores across Shropshire, approached us for help with funding to keep the lights on amid the current cost of living crisis.
Lea Beven, who runs NotJUST a Foodbank, said: “This has been an extremely challenging time for us with energy costs still at a high. We're struggling to keep the lights on this winter and desperately need all the help we can get, particularly as we approach the festive period.
“People from all different backgrounds, professions and ages are turning to us for support, so we’d like to say a big thank you to Redrow for their kind donation which will allow us to keep helping those in need.”
Along with help towards bills, the foodbank is appealing for donations of all kinds of edible items – especially breakfast cereals (except porridge), tins of meatballs/hot dog sausages and Frey Bentos pies, tuna, sugar, tea, coffee and baked beans.
