The Countess of Chester Hospital’s annual duck race, takes place this Saturday, April 5, and includes community and corporate sponsored ducks, decorated and dressed up to undertake the race.
Redrow NW is a returning sponsor and without wanting to ruffle any feathers, enlisted the help of Broughton Youth Club to style its duck.
Mike Newman, from Broughton Youth Club said: “I work at the Countess of Chester and saw a poster asking for schools to decorate ducks for the race. I thought it would be a great activity for the children at the youth club to get involved in.
“They really enjoyed collating ideas and creating different designs. Thanks to all the children and staff for getting involved. We also gave the duck a name – Bob. I hope he swims well on the day!”
Anna Evans Kerr, sales director at Redrow NW said: “We’re happy to be involved in the Chester Duck Race again this year – it’s a great event for a good cause and lots of fun. Thank you to Mike and all at Broughton Youth Club for doing such a great job. Everyone at Redrow will be cheering for Bob on race day.”
Broughton Youth Club takes place every Monday at Broughton Community Centre from 6.15pm to 8.45pm.
The club holds a number of activities, including arts and craft and is open for children aged from 11 to 18. No booking required.
The Chester Duck Race will be held from 12pm – 4pm on April 5.
