Redrow South Midlands, currently building at The Steeples, on Stevenson Cresent, presented Home-Start Southern Oxfordshire with a donation of £1,000 as part of its annual Community Fund initiative.
Home-Start Southern Oxfordshire supports families who may be struggling with isolation, their mental health, or multiple births, following the arrival of a newborn. The charity also supports parents dealing with illness, disability, financial difficulties, or trauma; by offering compassionate, confidential help and support through one-on-one home visits, parent and baby support groups, and a family support worker.
Over the last year, home-visiting volunteers at Home-Start Southern Oxfordshire have improved outcomes for children’s learning and development by 84%. 70% of the parents supported felt less isolated, 65% felt better able to cope with parenting in the earliest years, and 64% had improved mental health as a direct result of the charity.
Our £1,000 donation will be used to cover the travel expenses of volunteers who visit families at their homes across Oxfordshire to provide one-to-one support.
Now in its sixth year, Redrow South Midland’s Community Fund aims to support local organisations across Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire, with donations to help them continue to thrive and offer services to their local communities.
Faye Golding-King, Development Manager at Home-Start Southern Oxfordshire, said: “We’re extremely grateful to Redrow South Midlands for this generous donation, which will make a huge difference to the families we support in Oxfordshire.
“We’re very proud of the impact that we have had on both parents and children – it’s been a delight to watch mothers’ and fathers’ confidence grow. We’re excited to use these funds to continue to provide one-to-one support to Oxfordshire families – thank you, Redrow.”
Andrew Newman, Sales Director at Redrow South Midlands, said: “We’re delighted to be helping Home-Start Southern Oxfordshire reduce isolation in new parents and support young children’s learning and development.
“Parenthood is challenging, regardless of what stage you’re at, so the work the team does for those who may be struggling with their mental health, illness, disability, financial difficulties or trauma following a new arrival is invaluable to families across Oxfordshire – ensuring everyone in the family thrives. We’re so pleased to be able to offer our support for such a worthy and important cause.”
