Warminster Redrow donates over £1,000 to local sports club

A Warminster-based rugby club has try-umphed with brand new equipment thanks to a donation from Redrow.

Redrow South West, which is currently building at Tascroft Rise, on St Andrews Road, has donated £1,675 to Warminster Rugby Football Club as part of our Community Fund initiative.

The fund, which launched in 2023, aims to help local organisations with specific donations that give them the tools they need to continue to thrive, and local groups and causes were invited to apply for their share of a £10,000 pot.

Warminster RFC is home to 12 different teams, with members as young as six years old. Its first team currently plays in the Counties 2 Tribute Dorset & Wilts Central rugby league. The club also formed its first girls’ team, Warminster Pink Panthers, in 2020 and is growing from strength to strength, becoming finalists in the Wiltshire Junior Sports Team of the Year.

Our donation has helped them purchase new equipment including post protectors, so they can continue to provide a well-run rugby club for the community for years to come.

Robert Rowbotham, Chairman of Warminster Rugby Club, said: “We’re very grateful to Redrow for the donation from the community fund. The donation has allowed us to purchase new pitch equipment that is available to all age groups throughout the club."

“This shows the commitment that businesses in the area are committed to supporting the growing community sports projects which allow us to continue to provide a safe environment for all. There is a place for everyone in this sport regardless of age or ability.”

Sian Smith, Sales Director at Redrow South West said: “The community fund initiative is part of our commitment to creating thriving communities within the local area and are proud to support local charities and organisations in the South West with the valuable work they do."

“We are proud to support the Warminster Rugby Club, local sports teams are essential to our communities, and provide people with an outlet to have fun, socialise and learn new skills. We’re delighted to donate funds to help them continue their wonderful work.”

Surrounded by endless hills and woodlands, Tascroft Rise, in the rural market town of Warminster, is well connected, with Bristol just 30 miles away and good motorway connections all within easy reach. Warminster is also home to one of Britain’s best independent schools, making it an ideal place to raise a family.
