We rarely stop to think about how a place became just that. The homes, roads and shops can feel like they’ve been there forever. In reality, there’s a considerable amount of work that goes into making sure a new place feels more permanent and accessible and that work starts long before a spade hits the ground.
A new legacy
No one knows that better than Grant Strong, special projects manager at Redrow who’s overseeing the delivering of the ambitious Plasdwr development, a vast new garden city in Cardiff which will eventually house 16,000 people. Grant and Kevin Parker, group master planning director at Redrow joined Tom at an early phase of Plasdwr to talk about how Redrow’s unique placemaking principles are being weaved into every aspect of the scheme.
