The defib is housed outside The Aviator pub on Lancastrian Way, at the entrance to Woodford Garden Village.
Woodford Garden Village Resident’s Group applied to our community fund for money towards a defibrillator and they were in luck when we had one to rehome and donated money towards its outer case.
Anna Evans-Kerr, sales director at Redrow North West, said: “We’d not long finished Millstone View in Penymynydd and had the device from there ready to donate to a group just like the resident’s group. We also gave them a monetary donation to cover the cost of a case for the defibrillator so it’s secure."
“A defibrillator can make a massive difference to the potential survivability in the event of a cardiac arrest. We hope it never needs to be used but it is there now just in case. At Redrow we have more than 100 defibrillators across all of our live developments and regional offices. They can be accessed by staff, contractors and the local community in the event of a medical emergency.”
Peter Crossen, who applied to our community fund on behalf of the resident’s group, said: “70 people die in Stockport* each month due to heart and circulatory disease that's one person every 11 hours. Plus, 7,600 Stockport residents have been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and in the North West only 1 in 13 people survive an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, that was why it was so important to us to get a defibrillator installed somewhere on our development. It is great that we now have a device so close to home.”
Woodford Garden Village will combine 920 homes, a pub, school, shops and an extensive network of green spaces including children’s play areas, cycle pathways, parks, meadows and extensive tree planting.
