Pupils from The Star Factory have four arts workshops booked in including the one paid for by our community fund.
The Star Factory has been running from Little Sutton Community Centre since 2012 and offers classes in singing, dance, drama, and musical theatre.
The classes are subsidised to keep them affordable and accessible to all but, to be able to offer the children anything extra, the school must fundraise.
James Wilson, owner of The Star Factory, said: “We love to be able to offer our children new experiences but to do that we need help from the local community. We have children from all walks of life, but our aim is to give every young person the same opportunities. Redrow’s donation meant that we have been able to book in the first workshop, an African drum session in June, to teach the children about other cultures and their arts and dance styles.”
Our donation also covered coach hire and registration fees so the children could perform as part of Young Voices, the world’s largest children’s choir, in Manchester.
Caroline Thompson-Jones, area sales manager at Redrow North West, said: “The Star Factory does great work with young people and opens their eyes to new opportunities. The workshop will have added to their knowledge of dances from across the world and we’re really pleased that we could help fund this.”
