Taking on an entire house can feel like an immense challenge, so it is best to tackle one room at a time, using these categories to guide your decisions: Keep, Donate, Sell, Remove. Only keep your favourite items that you still use often and get rid of everything else that you don’t need. Remember: Be Ruthless when Reducing! Get the family involved: If your home has been the family hub for years, it may be storing more than just your memories! Ask your children to sort through any other belongings. Whether it’s memorabilia, books, or furniture, give them a deadline to decide what they want to keep. This helps clear space while giving everyone ownership of the process.
- Don’t overlook outdoor areas: Garages, lofts, and outbuildings are clutter magnets. Be thorough when decluttering these spaces. Discard any items that are broken and take to your local recycling centre or invest in a skip to make the process a little easier.
